The philosophy of Pack 79 is to provide a relaxed atmosphere where kids can have fun while making new friends, learning life skills, and contributing to the community. Our goal is to offer various programs throughout the year that create learning opportunities, some tailored towards advancement but mainly for the enjoyment of all ages.
We have had so many great activities for the Cub Scouts in the past year! Below are just a few of our favorites!
Check out our Facebook page for what’s coming up next!
The Cub Scouts hiked three miles in the Lynn Woods with family and friends. We were able to reach the top of Stone Tower, and thanks to a park ranger, we had the opportunity to go inside Dungeon Rock and look for pirate treasure!
Some were furry, some were fast, some slithered, and we all had a blast with our friends at Curious Creatures. The Cub Scouts got to pet tons of animals from a chinchilla to an alligator, to a tortoise, and even a few snakes.
We had a fantastic time at McIntyre Ski Area where the Cub Scouts had the chance to tube with family and friends. We all met up for hot chocolate after a fun day in the snow.
One of our favorite activities each year is our rocket launch. Cub Scouts assemble a kit rocket and then launch it three times into the air. Friends and family help track down the rockets and get them ready for the next launch. The final launch is the biggest, we think some are still orbiting earth!
The Pinewood Derby is the ultimate Cub Scout challenge! Each child receives a Pinewood Derby Car kit and crafts the fastest, coolest, silliest, or most creative car. Then we all meet up for a day of racing at Clifton Lutheran Church. Whether a Cub Scout comes in first, or wins Best Paint Job, we all learn about sportsmanship, creativity, and having a lot of fun!
